Swedish fashion brand Björn Borg is to release their next collection through a free web-based game on the 28th of January. The game introduces a new genre, a first person shooter where you battle evil forces with the power of love. In the new trailer for ”First Person Lover”, the brand unveils two weapons. A handgun that fires holographic kiss mouths and an automatic rifle that fires heart-shaped soap bubbles. The trailer parodies classic product-introduction videos, similar to those held by tech giant Apple.

All the Women’s clothing featured in this game were designed by Union Design.

Nike Winter Running – PRODUCT REVIEW

December 30, 2014

It’s always hard dressing for cold weather running. In Amsterdam, temperatures rarely drop below 0C so it’s a matter of balancing between keeping warm at the beginning of a run while not getting too hot and uncomfortable toward the end. As a Sport Designer & Runner, this is an ongoing quest for me both personally & professionally and it’s something I will start to discuss on my blog.

I’ve tried several combinations of brands & styles over the last few years. Today I tested Nike’s Dri-Fit Sprint Jacket with a long sleeve Nike Pro Combat Mock Neck as a base layer.

The Nike Dri-Fit Sprint Jacket was fantastic. The fabric was a really comfortable, light, very breathable and definitely warm enough. I like running in full-zip Hoodies as they give me the option to wear the hood when I set off or open up the zip if I get too warm. I also love the design of this Jacket, especially the longer / narrower, fashionable silhouette and reflective tapes set into the seams.

The Nike Pro Combat Mock Base Layer worked as a great combination piece with the Sprint Jacket. I’ve tried a lot of different base layers ranging from low (Decathlon) through to high (Nike/Adidas) price points. Generally, I’ve been happy with most of them but for me, this is the best so far. The fit is excellent and the mock neck feels and looks great at this time of year. The difference between this item and some of the cheaper styles out there is basically the design panels and fabric. The design panels genuinely gives the garment a better fit and are definitely not just there for show! The side panels wrap around the body and do not rub or chaff. Additionally, the Pro Combat fabric is very comfortable to wear. It is not too heavy but still gives a light compression.

To summarise, this is my favourite winter running outfit so far. It was light and comfortable throughout my 10k. I set off with the hood up and the thumbholes pulled down and after halfway had to open the jacket up slightly. I’m really happy with both these purchases.

I will be reviewing more product over the coming weeks & months.

Nike Launches “Hyperwarm Flex” Base Layer Technology

October 8, 2014

Pioneering sports brand Nike may be best known for their cutting edge developments in footwear but we shouldn’t forget their innovations in sportswear too! Their latest development, named “Hyperwarm Flex” responds to the needs of athletes in cold climates, focusing on protection, flexibility and comfort.

A top and pant have been crafted using cutting edge knitted technology, and boast a mixed, paneled construction that utilizes different technologies for each area’s requirements – namely flexible articulation, thermal insulation and Dri-FIT moisture wicking, for what the brand believe to be “the finest base layer Nike has ever made.”

UNDERCOVER x Nike Gyakusou Holiday 2014 Collection

October 6, 2014

Nike once again teams up with Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER for another coveted collection tapping into the designer’s devout approach to urban running. When designing the collection, the two brands contemplated on what a running uniform might look like in 1,000 years. This thought process eventually led to the development of the Utility Long Tights – a combination of running shorts and running tights. A looser fit on top incorporates pockets and recalls classic sport shorts, while the integrated full-leg coverage of tights provides necessary warmth. This same forward-looking concept also led to the Engineered Sleeve Composite Jacket. Instead of using a single fabric to form the outerwear layer, the unlined jacket incorporates multiple materials. The body of the garment is constructed of a composite Storm-FIT that provides weather protection, whereas the sleeves and neck are formed from an engineered knit that allows for mobility and adapts to the arm in motion.

The collection launches October 23 online and at NikeLab locations worldwide.
